The Siegel-Schwall Band - Going Back To Alabama
Lay, Dawnserly Music, BMI
This beloved, good-time Chicago band was formed by two college students—Corky Siegel and Jim Schwall—in the mid-1960s. It featured Corky’s soaring, high-energy harmonica and playful piano playing, Jim’s amplified acoustic guitar, and vocals by all the band members, often including the venerated Chicago blues drummer Sam Lay. They performed at rock venues across the country but also played with symphony orchestras (!!). The band broke up in 1974, but came together for multiple reunion gigs and recordings, like this one from 2005.
