Joe Louis Walker - I Won’t Do That
Hambridge & Fleming, Tom Hambridge Tunes, ASCAP/Richard Fleming Music, BMI
NPR Music called him “powerful, soul-stirring, fierce and gritty...a legendary boundary-pushing icon of modern blues.” With a career that spans over 50 years and 26 albums, Joe has mastered blues genres from acoustic Delta to explosive blues-rock. He was playing professionally as a teenager, backing (and being taught by) Lightnin’ Hopkins, Fred McDowell and others in the clubs of his San Francisco hometown. His passionate vocals (nurtured by his years of singing with gospel quartets) and fiery guitar playing have won him spots on festival stages around the world. Joe cut two of his best albums for Alligator, both produced by Grammy-winner Tom Hambridge.
