Long John Hunter - Marfa Lights

For decades, Long John Hunter rocked the rowdy, all-night bars of El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico, delivering hard-edged, swinging Lone Star blues and wildman showmanship. Although he had started playing in Port Arthur on the Gulf Coast, he became a word-of-mouth legend in West Texas. But he recorded only a few 45s and one small-label album. With the 1992 release of his second album, Ride With Me (now reissued on Alligator), followed by Border Town Legend and Swinging From The Rafters, he became a blues festival headliner, bringing his stinging guitar and trademark Texas vocals to stages across the country. He joined his old Port Arthur pals Lonnie Brooks and Phillip Walker for the epic Lone Star Shootout in 1999.
