Cephas & Wiggins - Ain’t Seen My Baby
Cephas, John Cephas Inc., ASCAP

The acoustic duo of the late John Cephas on guitar and vocals and Phil Wiggins on harmonica were among the modern era’s finest purveyors of the pre-World War II, melodic, finger-picked Piedmont Blues style of the American southeast. They lived in the Washington, D.C. area but toured worldwide, playing festivals and arts centers as well as for the State Department. John, a former carpenter, took the role of blues historian, while Phil, a generation younger, became a brilliantly inventive harmonica player. They cut a dozen albums, including four for Alligator.
