C.J. is a major figure in zydeco and one of the masters of the big piano accordion. He took over leading The Red Hot Louisiana Band in 1987, following the death of his father, Clifton Chenier, “The King Of Zydeco.” With his gritty voice, immense energy and squeezebox talent, C.J. has toured all over the world, presenting his muscular, supremely danceable brand of bayou country music, which he’s updated with strains of R&B, jazz, Latin and rock.
