The Holmes Brothers - Run Myself Out Of Town
Holmes, Gardenville Music/Foggy Day Music, BMI
Wendell (guitar and piano) and Sherman (bass) Holmes, along with their honorary brother, Popsy Dixon (drums), created a roots music style that blended blues, R&B, country, gospel, and rock ānā roll, often mixing their three voices in gorgeous gospel harmonies. Wendell and Sherman began by playing Saturday nights in the juke joints and Sunday mornings in church in their Christchurch, Virginia hometown. Moving to New York City, they joined forces with Popsy, whose amazing voice ran from deep bass to soaring falsetto. Together they cut 11 albums between 1990 and 2014, the last five for Alligator. Both Wendell and Popsy died in 2015. Sherman continues to perform regularly.
