Albert Collins - Blue Monday Hangover
Malone & Caple, Songs Of Universal, BMI
They called him “The Master Of The Telecaster,” the creator of the reverb-laden “Cool Sound.” With his ferocious six-string attack, his weird minor-key tuning, his storyteller’s voice and the sheer physicality of his playing, he became Alligator’s biggest star in the early 1980s. Albert had been a local sensation in Houston, where he released instrumental singles. Then he moved to Los Angeles, where he signed with a major label, but those records never captured his power. With my co-producer Dick Shurman, we helped Albert unleash all his energy in the studio and make the best records of his career.
