Flesh & Blood
Was it ’75 or ‘76
That 4th of July when we got so sick
Smoked our first and last cigarette out behind the barn
Remember the days at the fishing hole
Double dares, a pair of old cane poles
Swapping licks, trading… baseball cards

We were Mays and Mantle, Tom and Huck
Batman and Robin, Fight and Fuss
But we stuck together just like barefeet and mud
More than best friends……
Flesh and blood

Daddy’s old car sat on cement blocks
Behind the wheel we were astronauts
Cruising the milky way… in an old Pontiac
And piecing together the facts of life
With a shirt full of Playboys and two flashlights
Flipping pages we can’t ever turn back

We were Ford and Chevy, Rock N Roll
Peanuts and Pepsi, Heart and Soul
We stuck together just like barefeet and mud
More than best friends……
Flesh and blood

Seems like life divides the boys
From the men they grow into…….
But it’ takes more than miles and time
To separate me and you

We’re still Mays and Mantle, Rock ‘N Roll
Batman and Robin, Heart and Soul
Nothing can come between… the two of us
More than best friends…..
Flesh and blood

[spoken] Brother, You’re my best friend
We’re flesh and blood
