This version was compiled out of several recorded performances. Bill Ellis wrote his doctoral dissertation on Rev. Davis in two volumes, ten chapters, three appendices and a completely sorted out discography. Having written the song notes to Ernie Hawkins’s three volume opus, Bill is completing a popular version of his dissertation, while running the Fine Arts Department at St. Michael’s College in Vermont.
