Jerry came of age during the early sixties. He got to know all the blues, Bluegrass and Old Time Music legends of the day because they all stayed at his house when they played in Philly. To him there was no fundamental difference between black and white old time music. On one collecting trip in the early sixties with Ralph Rinzler, the two were directed to a young piano tuner in Deep Gap, North Carolina, a blind guy by the name of Arthel Watson.
