Perry died of Leukemia a couple of years ago, at fifty-two. Before he passed, he was able to make a CD’s worth of his best tunes, assisted by his wife Joan, Elijah Wald (author of Escaping the Delta), and a few other folks. This one is off that CD, which was called "This World Is Not My Home". Marc Silber, who worked at Izzy Young’s Folklore Center where Rev. Davis would hang out, was a great friend to both Perry and Davis. Not one easily impressed, Marc’s voice took on an awestruck tone when he talked about Perry’s playing.
