This Side of Heaven
He was a poor man from the country, built his barn with his own hands
30 years he made a living from the land
Then one day the storm rolled in, and the lightening hit the ground
He fought back tears as his building was burning down
Fell to his knees and prayed to Heaven, Lord don’t take my barn away
I am just a simple man, a man of faith
Then the storm clouds finally parted, and he heard a voice come through
Without the hard times, there’s no miracle for me to do.
This side of Heaven there is heartache, this side of Heaven there is pain
Sometimes you just can’t see the rainbow for the rain
So if Heaven sends down lightening, and burns your building down
There’s just more room to see the stars in Heaven’s crown.
One by one he nailed the timbers, and raised that barn again
This time a cross stood where the weathervane once had been
Now in the evening you’ll see him standing as day rolls slowly by
Waiting for the crown of stars up in the sky
This side of Heaven there is heartache, this side of Heaven there is pain
Sometimes you just can’t see the rainbow for the rain
So if Heaven sends down lightening, and burns your building down
There’s just more room to see the stars in Heaven’s crown.
So if Heaven sends down lightening, and burns your building down
There’s just more room to see the stars in Heaven’s crown.
