I laid awake again last night beneath the pale moonlight
I heard the cry and the moaning of the wind
I heard the whistle scream on that southbound railroad train
Now I'm Blue and I'm lonesome again

Well they took you away on one cold dark windy day
Stood and cried as that train headed down the rail
When I here the lonesome wind it brings your memory back again
The whistle haunts me each time the night grows still

Pack my suitcase and go each time I hear a whistle blow
Try to run and hide but I can't escape the wind
It makes me want to stop and cry when I see a train go by
It makes me blue and lonesome again
