Johnson City Rag
I's a way downtown with the yellow, green and red
Watching the people go passing by
I found the Johnson City Rag
Jesse farms along the river out of town
He's brought tomatoes and melons to sale
He don't wear no weekend dungarees
No he works his fields and whistles in the breeze.
Just got a dollar off a lawyer in town
He's smiling and holding a paper bag of beans
Mama's got her babies and they've stopped to watching me
Oh, they like this playing and singing downtown.
Chorus
Though some clouds may hold a little rain
It's not broke the spirit or dampened anything
There's all kinds of people roaming around here
Wearing overalls or short shorts to some who've had beer.
