Ed Snodderly uses images from the old and odd Appalachian world and combining them with his own musical backbone that creates original, eclectic beautiful and imaginative songs. Imagine A. P. Carter sitting with Charles Bukowski in a diner falling in love with their waitress talking with a hillbilly accent and pierced tongue.
Sam Bush (Majestic), Jerry Douglas ( Pearlie M ae), John Cowan (Working In The New Mine), Missy Raines ( Basket Of Singing Birds) and others have recorded Ed songs. He’s recorded for Philo, Zu-Zazz and Sugar Hill Records.
The third verse of his song “The Diamond Stream”, is permanently displayed on the wall in the Hall Of Honor a t the Country Music Hall Of Fame. You’ve seen him on the silver screen as the Village Idiot in O Brother, Where Art Thou?
1.Brier Visions
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004
Brier Visions is a poem by Jim Wayne Miller. Jim Wayne's great body of prose and poems are touching, compelling and his work always reveals a beauty with strength of the Appalachian people. A brier in case you don't know is what a person is sometimes called who moves to the North from the South. A little primitive banjo comes along with this poem to get your attention.
2. Basket Of Singing Birds
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
An eclectic idea for a chorus. I'm thinking head stone materiel.
3. Magnolia
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
I had this chorus around for a long time. I sing this one generally in every show. Visit my You tube channel for a very acoustic version with fiddle.
4. Working In The New Mine
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
Mike Seeger came up to me after a performance one time and smiled with agreement. Yep we're working in that new mine.
The Realtime Travelers do a great job here with string music
and chaos.
5.Mama's Done
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
I hate it but it's the truth. Mama's done.
6. Farther Than Your Eyes Can See
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
When was the last time you were down on the farm. Well you can let this song take you there. It's a little quieter than it use to be but still it's good you've made the visit.
7. Crying Boy
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
What's to become of the crying boy? Well he's growing up fine. He's driving now not and doing well.
8. Second Story
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
This is like music for the high school soc hop. Crooning for another chance at love.
9. Could She Be
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
One of those songs that comes out of nowhere and way down deep in the soul of this Appalachian odd music with sounds from the hollers. Maybe Roscoe had a little to do with this. I hope so.
10. Dog Gone
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
Dog gone it if folks can't keep there mouths shut and like Hank Williams sang if you mind your own business then you won't be minding mine.
11. Deep Down Here
Eddie Lynn Snodderly, Drivin Round Music, BMI.
2004 C P
An attempt to get at some of the things I feel about the South how I've grown up in. The sounds and smells playing as much to the the soul as anything. It's deep down here.
