Tricia Eaves - Mama's Angels
8. Mama's Angels

My Mama passed over in 2001. I was at her side the entire time and slept on the floor next to her bed. She somehow knew well before and had a list of people she wanted to see over 10 days. She didn’t say she was dying, but I began to feel it. Mama was clear and lucid the entire time. She described, with thrilling, pure joy, what she saw. I knew in the days after she was gone that I had to write her journey in a song. As I finally drove away from her side, these words rang in the finality. "Now I'll never be afraid of dyin’."
