Tricia Eaves - New Dawn
2. New Dawn
My ancestors were Scots Irish. After generations of abuse, they traveled from Ulster to the new world in America. It took incredible courage fueled by desperation to board a wind-powered ship and cross the ocean to the unknown. They left everything behind. Everything, for a hope of freedom in a faraway land. They traveled the great wagon road, now I-81, less than a mile from where I live in East Tennessee. Eventually, my people settled in New Mexico, but now I've come home to East Tennessee. I think of them every time ride that road. Chris Jones sings the duet with me. I was his first bluegrass guitar teacher, and I'm so proud of him. This song, a co-write and with the duet with my old and dear friend, is a full circle for me.
