This is another air I wrote
and passed on to the
Nashville- based songwriter
Sharon Vaughn for lyrics.
The minute she heard the
air she thought of ships,
pirates and the sea, so what
better subject matter than
our own most notorious
pirate queen, Grainne
O’Malley or Granuaile 1530
– 1603. Grainne had the
reputation of being a
fearless leader and fierce
fighter, and earned the
respect and admiration of
all her crew. It is said that
no Irish Chieftain had done
more to protect and
preserve the old Gaelic
ways from the English, than
she had done in her
lifetime.
