When I woke this morning and looked in the mirror I didn’t know the man I saw
Funny how times slips by day to day
Where was all that thick dark hair , that once adorned my head
Like everything else , with age just slipped away.
They say with age comes wisdom , and youth is wasted on the young ,
I gotta agree with that philosophy .
I’d trade the knowledge learned and this age bought dignity
Cause youth was surely wasted by me .
Chorus
I lived each day to the limit , never dreaming of the day
When I would have to settle up , the account I had to pay
Too much walking on a tightrope , living recklessly
Yep youth was truly wasted , on a fool like me .

Now it’s time to pay the piper , far too long I’d called the tune
A victim of my own reality
Youth was fine and dandy , but it was over way too soon
My wasted years became my legacy .
Chorus

Too much walking on a tightrope , living wild and free
Yep youth was truly wasted , on a fool like me
Ain’t that the truth
