8. The Fields Have Turned Brown (David Bromberg Band)
Track 8 "The Fields Have Turned Brown" (6:35)
To quote David's liners: "The Stanley Brothers. What more is there to say?"
A waltzing country/bluesgrass weeper with fiddle, mandolin, banjo by guest John McEuen.
A traditional take on an all-too-frequent rite of passage: our boy leaves his home and family ("Now don't go astray") to ramble the world, years later gets a letter that his folks have died, and now that he's ready to return home, there's no one there waiting for him.
