God Loves The Workin Man
©℗2006 Dave Insley, Crawl Daddy Music, BMI
I can’t help but thinking that the good lord has a fondness for the working class
And that men who toil & sweat, for the love of God & family will be saved at last
The Good Book says we’re brothers, as we’re walking thru this world two by two
God loves saints & sailors, cowards thieves & failures
and you know that God loves hippies, too
Well Jesus was a long hair, and he wore those Roman sandals like no Okie would
He loved them that crucified him, that nailed his aching body to that slab of wood
No outlaw ever scared him, and no one who ever failed him could resist his love
So we’ll gather by the water, when the roll is called up yonder
& we’ll join him in God’s kingdom up above
Daddy loved us children, and he taught us that we should always respect the land
He said “The devil has a way of making us his slaves, if we have idle hands”
He put food on the table for my brothers, sisters and my mom and me
Then we’d say grace & thank the lord for the crops & rain & the love of family
I can’t help but thinking theres a special place in heaven for the workin men
and that love will easily prevail, overcoming each and every mortal’s sins
The Good Book says we’re brothers, as we’re walkin thru this world hand in hand
God loves saints and sailors, & folks who live in trailers
And you know god loves the working man
