Cowboy Lullaby
©℗2005 Dave Insley, Crawl Daddy Music, BMI
If I promised you an easy life, please don’t hold me to my word
If you can’t endure the way that things go, well fly away my little bird
Nights I spend out on the desert floor, in the saddle long past dark
I’ll roll another smoke and think of you, well life’s just like that little spark
Smell the creosote and feel the breeze, listen to a coyote’s cry
Guess I’ll never hear a more mournful sound, if I listen till I die
Now I sing this cowboy’s lullaby, I watch you smiling in your sleep
I watch the firelight flickering on your skin, I pray to god your soul to keep
Now I’ll sing this cowboy’s lullaby and rock you gently in my arms
The moon & stars & I will watch over you, we will keep you safe and warm
