True Presence
I wrote this song while I was on a retreat in the Boston area a number of years ago. Some of the lyrics were composed while I was at Eucharistic Adoration. Like a couple of my other songs, I decided to use a public domain melody -- Panis Angelicus. I have a great devotion to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. As a matter of fact, my religious name (I'm a Third Order Dominican) is Sr. Mary of the True Presence and the Holy Innocents. I asked for permission to sing this song after Holy Communion during celebration of Holy Mass on May 7, 2006 when I made my final profession. This was an unusual request, but it was granted. "Ask and you shall receive." Praise God! For those who don't know what is meant by the phrase 'True Presence', I would like to let you know that it refers to the fact that Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist -- Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. I believe that with all my heart. It takes the gift of faith to believe this because our eyes cannot see anything but a wafer of bread.
