The Walking Song
I was walking late one night upon a road that had no end
When I met a man, he came walking up by my side
He was older than a children’s song but he took me for a friend
Held his hand in mine and here’s what he said

“I been on this ever changing road longer than you care to know
And baby, I’ve met some lost and longing souls
But I ain’t never seen a loner with a heart that had no home
You look like you could use a little walking song

CHORUS
“And it goes
Sleep outside and travel light,
Keeping the blues away
Miles of road and rain they don’t bother me
Sleep outside and travel light
Cause we ain’t got time to waste
And that sweet light’s gonna be shining on me someday

“There’s an old eternal love light lying in between the earth and sky
And looking on down the road I can see they meet
That’s where I’m heading now and to pass the time along
I sat down and made me this walking song

REPEAT CHORUS

Well I looked down that winding road and I looked back at the man
I said, “Honey, I sure could use that helping hand
All my plans have gone by the wayside, I feel so all alone,
So come on darlin’, sing me that walking song”
