The Arizona Ranger
The Arizona Ranger
(Cason Ogden)
Underneath the Arizona sun, you live and die by the gun
Sit on down and I will tell you a tale of how the west was won
The outlaw’s name was Texas Red, bring him back boy alive or dead
Watch yourself son, he’s got a hell of a draw
You better clear leather ‘fore his hammer falls
I set out for Texas the very next day, shot of whiskey and I was on my way
This ole outlaw he don’t scare me none, another notch in my gun
Texas Red killed twenty men, not twenty-one if I’d be damned
He might be fast but he ain’t never seen or heard the likes of my big iron ring
I rode into town on a sunny morn, made it plain to folks around
I was looking for old Texas Red in their town
Then the time came and we met in the street, I can’t forget that burning Texas heat
Staring down, my hand on my gun, somehow I knew he’d be the one
After all the smoke had cleared, I could not believe my eyes
As a crowd gathered near, there old Texas lie
The outlaw’s name was Texas Red, I brought him back boys, now he’s dead
He was fast but he had never seen or heard the likes of my big iron ring
My big iron ring
