All Our Luck Is Changing
We’re driving to Las Vegas and I’m sticking to the seat
Of that powder blue Falcon, in the shiny desert heat
My stepdad’s at the wheel, whistling up a storm,
My Mom’s head is on his shoulders she keeps saying ‘Oh my, its warm!”
He says that I should call him Dave, which sorta sounds like Dad
He looks like Andy Griffith and he whistles when he’s glad
Dave sells life insurance and I’m not sure what that means,
But the odds got so much better when we went from two to three
All our luck is changing, stars are rearranging
The windows are rolled down, wish I could roll them down some more
I bought books, Old Maid and Barbie and I’m already kind of bored
My little sister she isn’t born yet, so there’s no one there to tease
So I “Dive”, and battle octopi at twenty thousand leagues
Hey Rat Fink, settle down, another hour and we’re there
This is my first family vacation, I’ve never been anywhere
We pass a neon cowboy and he’s waving right at me
I can’t stop jumping on the backseat while Dave parks and gets the key
All our luck is changing, hearts are rearranging
Loves a gamble, kiss the dice
Take the vows and throw the rice
My Mom is shooting Super 8’s of gap toothed little me
I’m chubby but I don’t know it yet, I’m happy just to be
Splashing towards the camera and waving like a fool,
And jumping off the high dive at the Stardust Hotel Pool
All our luck is changing, hearts are rearranging
