Lincoln's Funeral Train
LINCOLN’S FUNERAL TRAIN 1990
Abraham Lincoln’s passing touched the nation like nothing before. As the train bearing the body of Lincoln slowly wound its way across the country, literally millions came out to watch it pass. Over 300,000 viewed the body of the late President in Philadelphia alone. The journey retraced the route Lincoln had taken to Washington just 4 years before and took 21 days covering 1,651 miles. This moving song, written by the Grammy-nominated instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter Norman Blake, retells the sad story.
