On Our Side
ON OUR SIDE

I went down to the country side
Just to watch the sparrows fly
And I saw them flutter in the wind to and from their nest
And it came to me that these small birds truly all were blessed
For I realized the Lord was on their side

Then I headed for the city lights
Walked up and down the streets that night
Met a weathered man in tattered clothes
And gave some change his way
But through my eyes he read my thoughts
Could he make another day
So he shook my hand and showed me his best smile
Said thank you Sir the Lord is on my side

We can trust Him cause He’s faithful and He’s true
And He loves us He will always see us through
No need to worry as we go through our lives
It’s good to know the Lord is on our side

When the morning broke and the church bell rang
There was music and the choir sang
The Preacher told a story of a family who had dreams
How even through the hard times things aren’t always as they seem
The family found the Lord was on their side

There’s a lesson for us all to learn
As we line up to take our turn
For the game of life has trials you and I must all go through
As we face the storm and wonder what it is that we should do
Remember that the Lord said He’ll provide
It’s good to know the Lord is on our side

You ask me how I know for sure this truth that you have heard
Time gone by has proven He is one who keeps His word

We can trust Him cause He’s faithful and He’s true
And He loves us He will always see us through
No need to worry as we go through our lives
It’s good to know the Lord is on our side
It’s good to know the Lord is on our side

I went down to the country side
Just to watch the sparrows fly
