All It Takes
ALL IT TAKES

As the wind cuts through his face
The old man takes his place, once again
Cardboard shelter home
Lost and all alone, without a friend
His mind just can’t believe
How the years spent overseas could end this way
Strangers hurry by
He’s hoping for a high every day

All it takes is a smile
Then in a little while
There is hope renewed because of you and your softer side
When there’s no one left to blame
You can stop the rain
All it takes is a smile

A child longs for a touch
A sign to reassure that they are loved
But the family falls apart
And the thought that it’s their fault breaks their heart
They learn how not to cry
That’s how they hide the emptiness inside
Innocence is lost
Leaving all of us asking why

All it takes is a smile
Then in a little while
There is hope renewed because of you and your softer side
In a world with so much pain
You can make a change
All it takes is a smile

With a touch of love
They can rise above all the shame
With a chance their lives will never be the same

All it takes is a smile
All it takes is a smile
Show them your smile
All it takes is a smile
All it takes is a smile
All it takes is a smile
