Stick Horse Rider
STICK HORSE RIDER
He had an old wood pole for a body and tail/And he looked so lonely on the bargain shelf/He was a wind up whinny with a double stitch seam/So I said mama would you buy him for me/
When I was wild and free/Stick horse rider/Gallop round the kitchen and the living room/Jumping over stairs in our bedroom/Never an adventure where we didn’t go/Never a dream where we didn’t roam/Not a trail or riverside where we didn’t ride/Oh man I miss those times I was a stick horse rider/We were gold medal winners, Olympian stars/and all around champ at the NFR/We ran the race at the derby that may/And the crowd went wild when we took first place/And all with just two legs/Stick horse rider/Gallop round the kitchen and the living room/Jumping over stairs in our bedroom/Never an adventure where we didn’t go/Never a dream where we didn’t roam/Not a trail or riverside where we didn’t ride/Oh man I miss those times I was a stick horse rider/Well that was long ago/I don’t ride a lot these days/Up inside my attic there’s a friend from yesterday/And she’s five years old underneath the Christmas tree/She pulls a red bow off his mane and now they’re wild and free/Stick horse rider/Gallop round the kitchen and the living room/Jumping over stairs in our bedroom/Never and adventure where she won’t go/Never a dream where she won’t roam/Not a trail or riverside where she won’t ride/Oh Lord it’s good to ride/When you’re a stick horse rider/He had an old wood pole for a body and tail
