Chico Schwall released this masterpiece back in 2004, but this writer has only heard of it recently. The album called "Driving By Moonlight" has taken me by surprise. I never expected to fall in love. We are all familiar with Chico Schwall's expertise at the craft of songwriting and instrumentation. He released this quietly, under the watchful eyes of his fans. The people who have fallen in love with his pure, intelligent and honest style of writing and performing in the last couple of years, are in for a treat! It is once in a blue moon I go backwards in time to review an album. Driving By Moonlight has caught my fancy and interest. It is beautifully orchestrated and produced by Chico Schwall.
"Driving By Moonlight" is a generous album with 14 tracks to delight us. And trust me, it will most certainly do that. Each track lays a tapestry for the next, flowing expertly. Chico Schwall has a way with his instruments, which allow him to flow through them. Suffice to say, the instrumentation on the entire album raises the bar for musicians around the globe. (Yes, he is that good)
Chico Schwall's writing ability shines through each song. He sweeps you away with songs that hold your interest and are imaginative. He has a fresh way of turning the written word which is addicting. Chico Schwall is a charismatic vocalist who infuses emotion into his songs, leaving the listener satisfied.
I loved the entire album, but I did come away with three favorites.
Let Me In
Uncle Rondo
Driving By Moonlight
I must say, I loved Chico Schwall before, but after hearing this earlier album, I also have a huge respect for this man. This is genuine talent, Ladies & Gentlemen, not just a one off.
