Chickenbone Slim (AKA Larry Teves) is a blues singer, guitarist and songwriter based in San Diego, California. Since forming his band in 2012, Chickenbone has created a reputation for pleasing crowds and impressing critics by mixing traditional Blues with West Coast swing, Americana and Rockabily in a distinctive way.
SERVE IT TO ME HOT was recorded at Christoffer “Kid” Andersen’s Greaseland Studios in San Jose, California, and features Slim’s current band: internationally acclaimed guitarist Laura Chavez (2020 BMA Best Guitarist nominee), drummer Marty Dodson (Fabulous Thunderbirds) and longtime bassist Andrew Crane. Andersen guests on piano, organ, and choice guitar licks, his wife Lisa Andersen adds background vocals, and harmonica player Aki Kumar guests on a track.
The album is a collection of all original material Chickenbone calls Roots Rock — an eclectic mix of short stories with danceable grooves.
Slim states, “From my core I’m a blues guy: T-Bone Walker, John Lee
Hooker...somewhere between Hound Dog Taylor and Dave Edmonds. I want people to listen to the songwriting.”
“His sound is reminiscent of Johnny “Guitar” Watson in the Third Ward of Houston circa 1964. Chicago/Texas/Gulf Coast/Uptown Blues with an authentic 1950’s to 1960’s vibe...On his excellent release 'Serve It Hot to Me', Chickenbone Slim is very surprising and versatile. It will certainly appeal to a wide audience and evoke many swinging
memories.“

(FOUR STARS)
“Larry Teves aka Chickenbone Slim presides over a tasty, tuneful and reliably rockin’ set that covers the bases, roots-wise, and constructed to please the most particular of roadhouse crowds. The San Diego-
based singer/guitarist’s originals range from boogie to swing to old school rock ballad with standouts including “Wild Eyed Woman”, “Top Of The Clouds” and the title track. The solid backup crew includes ace guitarist Laura Chavez.”
