Tend to My Flowers (single)
Southhaven rest home in a room by the stairwell
A gray wrinkled lady sat fading away

The age of her mind left her trapped in a silence
Every once in a while she would look up and say

I just want to go home and tend to my flowers
The ones my dear Henry has planted for me
If you’ll take me there then I know he’ll be waiting
By the side of the old house by the big maple tree

No plans for tomorrow and no past to speak of
Except for these words heard by her gentle plea

I just want to go home and tend to my flowers
The ones my dear Henry has planted for me
If you’ll take me there then I know he’ll be waiting
By the side of the old house by the big maple tree

Well early last Sunday just as dawn was breaking
The lady was found in the floor by her bed

Beside her still body was a torn piece of a paper
And written in pencil just a few lines were read

I’ll go on home now Lord to tend to my flowers
The angels said henry was waiting for me
She told me to sleep and I’d wake up in heaven
And we’d be together for eternity
Yes me and my Henry for eternity
