Journey to Providence
People ask how did it happen
Heaven only knows it all
Mile by mile we made the journey
From Wyoming to Arkansas
Ain’t a child can keep from cryin’
As friends and playgrounds fade from sight
Trading snow and family Christmas
For something down a two-day drive
Some folks stay right where they started
Others wander aimlessly
I am where my father led me
I am where I’m meant to be
He always felt a gentle tuggin’
So my Dad went back to school
He heard the call to be a preacher
The time had come to follow through
Southern air these hills called mountains
Ever slowly making sense
Livin’, lovin’, growin’, servin’
Putting faith in Providence
Some folks stay right where they started
Others wander aimlessly
I am where my father led me
I am where I’m meant to be
I am where (I am where) the good Lord led me
I am where I’m meant to be
