Almost Lucky
Heading down to Texas, State 96
In a mess of trouble, nothin’ I can fix
The night I was born, wind howled and cried
Storm right on my heels every day of my life

Two sided lightening and a warning on the radio
Rain so damn hard I can barely see the road
With “a truckers friend” I’m set to ride all night
Ninety miles an hour chase the red tail lights
Check my rear view mirror not a cop in sight
Feel almost lucky tonight

Moon bathes the highway with a silver sheen
Red dust devils far as the eye can see
Road at night has a dreamlike quality
Behind the truck stop princes west of Abilene

Two sided lightening and a warning on the radio
Rain so damn hard I can barely see the road
With “a truckers friend” I’m set to ride all night
Ninety miles an hour chase the red tail lights
Check my rear view mirror not a cop in sight
…feel almost lucky tonight

Wasting time drinking whiskey and wine
Watching the fading highway signs
Luck’s getting closer as I cross the state line
I drew the queen of hearts and the joker’s wild

Two sided lightening and a warning on the radio
Rain so damn hard I can barely see the road
With “a truckers friend” I’m set to ride all night
Ninety miles an hour chase the red tail lights
Check my rear view mirror not a cop in sight
…feel almost lucky …..almost lucky tonight
