Carl Jack - The Great Abyss
THE GREAT ABYSS

She rolled into my life like a class five hurricane. Swirling round and round, flickering like a flame. She picked me out one day like a coat from the lost and found. It was calm at first then the world started spinning around.
I was blown by the wind, soaked by the rain, carried by the rising tide. Falling head over heels into the great abyss, she had me mesmerized.
She was knockin’ at my door, must have been half past three. Screaming so loud, the neighbors called the police. Wearing flannel pajamas and three-inch red high heels. I had to bail her out just to take her out for a meal.
I was swept off my feet, lost her scheme, disoriented and confused. Falling head over heels into the great abyss, I had nothing left to lose.
She took me out on the town in her baby blue Chevy EV. When the power ran out, she left it on the street. Walking for miles and miles in circles so it seemed. My world was upside down, dangling from a string.
I didn’t know I was in trouble until it was much too late. And I was pleasantly resigned to just accept my fate. I could have walked away without any debate. I only have myself to blame for my mistakes.
She left me sitting on the beach with nothing but a sheet. Watching the sun come up, the waves crashing at my feet. She vanished like a cloud riding on a northern jet stream. It felt so real, but life is never what it seems.
I was lost in a spell, trapped in a dream, lured by a false mystique. Falling head over heels into the great abyss, wandering aimlessly. Yes, I was lost in a spell, trapped in a dream, lured by a false mystique. Falling head over heels into the great abyss, wandering aimlessly.
