DAISY (King Cosmos)
The lyrics contain the double entendre that many calypsos are noted for. The song tells the story of a male who accepts an invitation from a female to dine at her house at Christmas. He goes to “eat ah little piece ah souse”. However, after eating, he is unable to leave; and he can’t figure out why he is still there come the New Year. He had no other meals or alcoholic beverages at Daisy’s; so, he concludes that it must be something in she “souse”, something “sweet” “in she meat”, something “hot” “in she pot” that is keeping him there. Daisy’s “souse” is so good and so tasty, and he is “greedy”, that he’ll stay at her house until he gets to solve the mystery of her cooking.

Note:
Souse is a spicy hor d’oeuvre, popular in Trinidad and Tobago. Originally, it was made from pig’s feet, ears, or snout. Now, it is also made from the cows (cow foot souse) and poultry (chicken foot souse).
