Jon Burrowes - Brave Words
7. Brave Words
Yes I can see we're different
What would life be without that?
Well, never mind the small talk -
You're at the door with your hat
You know, for someone who’s told quite a few,
That they were not the one
You keep turning and looking back -
Are you sure - you're done?
Yes, life has kept us apart
Fooled us at every turn
We’ve gone down our own roads -
Found our own bridges to burn
You were the one I was afraid to call
God knows what held me back
We’re not so different after all,
Standing here, back to back
What has meant - so much to me
Is personal, hard - to explain
And yes, I know - I’m not the only one
Who has loved – you – in vain
So what of these clouds above us?
What if they’re yours or mine?
Don’t you think our falling star
Would like another chance to shine?
So I sing these brave words,
Up into the blue
Please, before you shut the door
Look back at me and you,
‘Cause this is love that’s true
