Rodybelle
Rodybelle was written about an elderly lady who lived in my home town. She was a character and kept everyone on their toes wondering what she would do next. But, I tried to make light of her different nature.
Rodybelle
Rodybelle was a dixie queen, she lived in Caroline
she showed me things I've never seen back in 1959.
She'd sing a song and write along I'd follow with my eyes, the golden hair of a dixie queen, neath the blue Carolina skies.
chorus:
I knew that she was much too old, someday we'd have to part, Rodybelle you dixie queen you stole away my heart.
It's been years since I've been back home
but clearly in my mind, are the days and dreams of Rodybelle the queen of Caroline.
They say that she did pass away, but clearly in my mind are the days and dreams of Rodybelle the queen of Caroline
chorus:
I knew that she was much too old, someday we'd have to part, Rodybelle you dixie queen you stole away my heart, Rodybelle you dixie queen you stole away my heart.
