“BRUSH-WOOD” is an idea that has spanned the last ten years. Jim Richardson-singer/songwriter, came up with the idea while still in school learning about recording and production techniques in music. The thought of a band expressing views and ideals that mirror the sixties, and natural spiritual values, was an exhilarating idea. Not so much a psychedelic expression, but a real eclectic rock band approach, with a no bull revelency to today’s world issues and the need for peace and love. Some expressions are timeless, so the quest was on to find like minded individuals.
Many people come and go through-out our lives. And the band “BRUSH-WOOD” is no exception. A handful of musicians came and played and eventually lost interest. It wasn’t until the spring of 2005, with the addition of Alexei Akimov on lead guitars and George Crecoukias on bass guitars, did the band start to notice the potential of being a class “A” rock act. Within a year or so the band was playing a handful of shows and recording songs for their first CD with an old friend at the drum kit, Craig T. Power.
There were a couple set backs and long delays as well as the sad departure of Craig at the kit. So we decided to hold off on the release of the debut CD until we found a new drummer. Within a few months and a few auditions we found the person who truly expressed interest. Gary Glynn came into the picture with like minded ideals and had talent and experience at the drums like no other. “BRUSH-WOOD” was finally complete and we released our debut CD on June 21, 2008.
The second follow up to the debut is already in the works. And the band plans on regional tours this summer and winter.
Ralph Cole from the Canadian iconic rock band “Lighthouse” saw our debut CD release party and show, and I quote: “One of the best, tight live acts I’ve seen in years. You guys have the sound, the vibe and the songs! An interesting eclectic group of individuals.”
