Voices That I Hear
There’s a voice I hear, callin’ softly in the morning
Wake up sleepyhead, this’ll be your final warning
Smellin’ coffee and some bacon in the kitchen
Love to hear my mom today that’s what I’m wishing

As a little boy, fear a monster hiding
Underneath my bed, it'd disappear with dad beside me
He’d bring a glass of water whispering in my ear
Love to hear him say “It’s a creaking floor you hear”

But time goes on. Never slowing down
It’s the voices that I hear when I close my eyes
That keep my feet on the ground

Now my little ones, hear them in the hallway playing
Soon the night-time comes, kneeling by their bedside praying
They’re all tucked into bed, I’m listening for the words
Daddy I love you, the sweetest thing I’ve heard

But time goes on. Never slowing down
It’s the voices that I hear
when I close my eyes
That keep my feet on the ground
It’s the voices that I hear when I close my eyes
That keep my feet on the ground
