Love of Liberty
Love of Liberty
The elephant that’s in the room
Has kept us all perpetually consumed
Freedom seeps like air as we’re deflated
From an emptying balloon
Recoiling from a tête-à-tête
with her disgraced tycoon
She dreams of things she couldn't say
Now she can’t speak too soon
And I know that she loves you
If only she could trust you now
You fool
That this too shall pass
Might be too much to ask to ever hope comes true
When trespass isn’t childish whim
Or a madman who’s just howling at the moon
Just how she may not bend or break with one more tangled fray
Is the paradox that keeps this night from turning into day
And I know that she loves you
If only she could trust you now
You fool
