I was teaching songwriting at a music camp, and a student told a story about his brother. There was an eclipse in NY and his brother went running up Madison Ave. trying to find a view of the moon between the buildings. There was a woman also looking for that view and she asked him, “Are You Looking for the Moon?” As soon as I heard this story I began writing right away and wrote the chorus in 15 minutes. It took 3 years to write the lyrics. I threw out multiple sets of lyrics and one day the penny dropped and verses came right away. Once you know where you’re going you can go there quick.
