GREENER GRASS
Greener Grass
There is a story That the Folks in town will tell
About a man who had two different sides One heaven the other hell
He raised the finest garden His fields were always green
But at night, he’d look to find a fight Cause the drinking it made him mean
Each day he’d pick the flowers for his wife so tenderly
And bring things from the garden to feed his family
But his wife she’d pay dearly when his evenings they were through
She said I wish the grass was greener on the meaner side of you
Sorrow killed all happiness as the years they rolled through
Their fields of green did luster into a deeper shade of blue
Their weathered love it ended like the garden in the fall
She took the bad until enough was had for her end it all
He used to bring her flowers and feed his family
But a drunkard can’t provide for a woman and her needs
But the drinking cost him dearly and his wife was finally through
She said you’ll wish the grass was greener on the meaner side of you
Now she lays flowers on a piece of chiseled stone
By the old garden plot there sitting all alone
That woman did what she had to do you can see her with a grin
Cause the grass it grows greener on the Sunny side of him
Lord the grass it grows greener on the Sunny side of him
