Biography
Bert Deivert is forging new ground with his interpretations of vintage blues material on mandolin and guitar. He is one of the few touring and recording blues mandolinists in the world today.
Bert's 10 album KID MAN BLUES is at nr 16 on the Roots Music Report radio play list. It features musicians like Sam Carr, Bill Abel, Brian Kramer, Janne Zander, Memphis Gold, Willie Salomon, and top Thai guitarist Pong Srabua. it is garnering rave reviews and was released on oct. 11, 2011.
Bert 's 9th album, TAKIN' SAM'S ADVICE, featuring lots of blues mandolin and appearances by topflight musicians from Sweden and the US in 2007. It was voted one of the top blues cds of 2007 by BLUES NEWS NORWAY, JEFFERSON BLUES MAGAZINE in Sweden and BLUES NEWS FINLAND, and is number 45 of the top blues cds for REAL BLUES magazine, Vancouver, Canada.
His main influences are Sam Chatmon, Son House, and Yank Rachell. His music garners rave reviews all over the world. He has played with Peter Case, Eric Bibb, Wanda Jackson, Tom Paley, and Mississippi bluesmen Cadillac John, Bill Abel, Sam Carr, and T-Model Ford.
In 1966 Bert saw Son House on public television and was so amazed by what he saw that he immediately broke a wine bottle and tried to make his own bottleneck. He has been hooked on the blues and Son House ever since. His road to the blues began then and crystallized on the streets of San Francisco in 1973-74 where he honed his skills, gained experience, and held audiences with his particular music mojo.
Bert's specialties are blues mandolin,slide guitar, as well as his distinctive and powerful voice.
