Ben Gilmer
Biography
I grew up in the beautiful mountains of southwestern Virginia. I spent much of my youth playing in the creek, wondering around the farm with my brother, and playing music with my family on our front porch. I suppose much of my writing reflects a sense of place deeply rooted in rural southern Appalachia.

My formal musical training came from pickin' bluegrass at Joe's Barber Shop in my hometown of Lebanon, VA, and from playing old country tunes with my grandfather and uncles. I started writing music when I was in high school, but never really considered myself a songwriter until college. I've spent the past few years in West Virginia, where I attended graduate school, then I taught Geography at Radford University in southwestern Virginia. I've since relocated to Seattle, WA, with my wife and am now a full-time musician (talk about a career change!).

My new album, "Juxtaposed," was recorded with the wonderful Mark Hodges at Mountain Fever Studios in Floyd County, Virginia. The album has a slew of incredibly talented musicians on it, including: Sam Lamont, Aaron Martin, Ann Yates Jones, Brandon Blevins, Andrew Gilmer, and Chris Printz.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
