Zera Starchild - Humbolt Is Home
In this song, I as the author use my artistic license to interject a personal note. I am going to clarify that by claiming a location. My location is a spot on the globe called Humboldt County. And like all spots it has its idiosyncrasies that make it unique. My location happens to be known for the consumption of weed (aka marijuana) which in the state of California in which it dwells, is legal. Like all of the United States of America, Humboldt was once inhabited by indigenous people, whose land was taken in the name of progress, often with the aid of violence, creating a history which is uncomfortable to address honestly. This song represents the point after the soul realizes that even an uncomfortable truth is far better than a beautiful lie. The hero embraces where he or she is and how that place came to be.
