SINGING RIVER SONG (spoken in a whisper) over chorus chant
As a child, I heard the Lady River Spirit Sing
Songs that (joyfully) taught me how
To be brave and not fear, (fear what the future would bring)
And under her wing she promised, to keep us safe and always protect and provide

Once I was taken from my home in 1839
Forced away, and to a distant land I was delivered Where the rivers ran silent, yes a very sad sad place I vowed to leave and find my way, back to my singing river

So for 6 long years I walked
I walked over some 600 miles straight home
Straight on to my homeland, the land they now call “The Shoals”
Back to my people and the mystical (musical) river, the mystical river of songs

Chorus: Listen to to songs, the songs of the river Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā , Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say
The songs, the songs of the river will fill your soul (full) with pleasure
Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say
Yes the songs, the songs of the river, will never cease to play
You only need to listen to hear what she has to say Nu-Na Say Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say
Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say

There truly is unbreakable bond
Between the earth and the open sky
A wind that caresses all the land
And gives us our peace of mind

There are places that are holy ground
Where ancient spirits dance free
Singing waters still flows through the land they call “The Shoals”
So quiet you mind and hear the river, hear the river that sings

Listen to to songs, the songs of the river Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā , Nu-Na Say, Ish-Sha-Teā, Nu-Na Say
