Bone Valley
Hog killing weather is the tough time of the year
He fed his cattle on a bank deal, cause the seed didn’t yield
He was working the mill at Ritter when the blizzard hit ‘em all
Couldn’t save his herd caught in the snow, he could’ve fought that circle saw

Don’t go down to Bone Valley Cove
You think you know the way, but there’s things you don’t know
This valley once flourished, it’s now a sinking stone
Back in the cove alone with all the many bones

He overlooked the field and wondered how he’d pay
The bills piled up higher than the deep snow covered grave
That banker would be coming to take his home in time
The farmer knew what he had to do; it overtook his mind

Don’t go down to Bone Valley Cove
You think you know the way, but there’s things you don’t know
This valley once flourished, it’s now a sinking stone
Back in the cove alone with all the many bones

Seasons turned the late bills and the deed to the lender’s hand
But death made his claim that day there on the farmer’s land
A man can disappear in what storms leave behind
A quiet valley full of bone is a place they’ll never find
