Nashville Blues
I had all of the hot licks in a four red light town
Came here on a short prayer and the truth I found
A catfish in the ocean is just another thing’s food
I’m just another picker with the Nashville Blues

It’s funny how a city with all the right songs
Can take a dreamer’s words, all his notes, and do him so wrong
I took all my money for heat- the groceries too
And burnt it here in the cold on the Nashville Blues

The old guys in the lobby just want folks to hear
And the winners from last year just want a closed door and beer
But the one who sold his home to make his dream come true
Just wants a nod for his good work and a break from the blues

It’s funny how a city with all the right songs
Can take a dreamer’s words, all his notes, and do him so wrong
I took all my money for heat- the groceries too
And burnt it here in the cold on the Nashville Blues
